registration as an optometrist

Optometry in Malta is regulated and requires registration with the Council for Professions Complimentary to Medicine Malta (CPCM).

The Council's work is set out by the Health Care Profession Act and its aim is to safeguard the health and wellbeing of the public using the services of the professions it regulates, by setting and maintaining standards of professional training, performance and conduct.

Therefore, if you are an overseas qualified optometrist and you wish to be an optometrist in Malta, you must have your qualifications recognised by the CPCM and then subsequently be admitted to the respective Register held by the Council.
